Based on the 1997 Royal National Theatre production, Ian Holm (The Lord of the Rings) "touches greatness" (The New York Times) in Shakespeare's most sublime and difficult role: the aging monarch who foolishly divides his kingdom between two ruthless daughters while banishing his youngest and most loving child. Eventually the two daughters reveal their true heartlessness and a tragic chain of events are set into motion.
