In the final installment of the Dune series written by Frank Herbert, the Bene Gesserit find themselves under attack from the Honored Matres, who are on a savage conquest of the Old Empire. In an attempt to preserve their dominance, the Bene Gesserit begin to develop a new spice-world on the planet Chapterhouse. However, the Bene Gesserit's only chance of survival is to ally themselves with a millennia-old enemy.
