Pascal -- a timid girl with a traditionally male name -- lives in a small seaside town, bound by chains of local traditions that oblige her to marry and secure her parents’ old age. She cannot escape, feeling how the town, shrouded in the thick haze of beliefs and superstitions, distorts her perception of the world, strips her of will, and binds her to itself. By chance, she crosses paths with the Singer -- a woman alien to this place, charismatic and wilful. The Singer passionately believes she can change Pascal’s life. As a wedding gift, she offers to take her on a journey. What will this strange friendship lead to? And will Pascal be able to free herself from imposed obligations and choose herself?
