5/5 This book follows Lara Jean Song Covey, a teenager full of secrets and crushes. Lara Jean loves love. Or at least she loves the idea of love. When it’s real it becomes a little too much for her. That’s why Lara Jean writes her letters. Lara Jean writes letters to her crushes when she begins to fall for them. These letters are kept in a small hatbox hidden in her room. None of the boys are ever meant to see these letters. When Lara Jean wakes up one day her letters are gone. When she realizes someone sent them out, she begins to panic. The boys will know everything she thought about them. When she arrives at school, she is confronted by her two crushes from years ago and her best friend. I thought that this book was amazing! It portrayed many dysfunctional characters and lifestyles. This book does not talk down to anyone and represents and understands all. This book is motivational, emotional, comedic, romantic, and dramatic. It is the perfect mix. The characters of Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey (the two main characters) are amazingly and beautifully written. I would most definitely recommend this book. It is moving and filled with beautiful themes and messages. There is some mature language in this book so I believe it would be appropriate for a reader of 13 years or older. The Lara Jean Series by Jenny Han also contains 2 other books; Always And Forever, Lara Jean, and P.S. I Still Love You. The whole series is written amazingly with such great character growth and overall development.
