I love Tayari Jones' work, and it seems to me her novels have elements that make them similar to comments I've heard circulating in Ashland about Christina Anderson's plays (this will make sense to those who saw the Juneteenth reading of her play "the ripple, the wave that carried me home," and likely those who see "How to Catch Creation" later in the 2019 OSF season). The stories are centered in African American culture, but not in the trauma of being a POC in the United States today, full of complex characters and rich plot elements. I loved how skillfully Ms. Jones was able to flip the readers sympathies when she shifted narrative voice from one of the daughters to the other. Well done on audio as well!
