Abortion

Opposing Viewponts

I very much enjoyed analyzing this book's contents. I borrowed it from the library because I am interested in the subject of abortion in the United States and I have trouble making up my mind about what I think is morally and ethically right. The book helped me to quickly realize that the United States, just like I have done as an individual, goes back and forth constantly on the subject. Abortion: Opposing Viewpoints shows that, contrary to popular belief, the issue is extremely complicated. Much of peoples’ beliefs on the subject depend on information and studies that can be completely contradicted by other information and studies. You might find yourself agreeing with one author on the anti-abortion side of things one chapter, only to reject their argument the next chapter because of a pro-abortion author’s evidence to the contrary. Regardless of the roller coaster ride of discussion, this book nevertheless helped me to be a better informed and responsible citizen. Also, I was happy to find that the book has not lost any of its cultural or social relevance even though it was published in 2006. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest/curiosity in the subject of abortion in the United States, women’s and gender studies, or anyone who is looking for more information so that they can better concoct an informed opinion on abortion.
