“I always said, “When things come against us we can either turn on each other, or we can come together and turn on it.” --Chip Gaines
“Don’t quit, and don’t give up. The reward is just around the corner. And in times of doubt or times of joy, listen for that still, small voice. Know that God has been there from the beginning—and he will be there until . . . The End.” --Joanna Gaines
“It was such a blessing to find myself thriving in the middle of the pain. Unless you find a way to do that, there's always going to be this fake illusion that once you get there--wherever "there" is for you--you'll be happy. But that's just not life. If you can't find happiness in the ugliness, you're not going to find it in beauty, either.” --Joanna Gaines

From serious work ethic (and many business ventures) when the world didn't know the names Chip and Joanna Gaines, to tv, and now book writing, listen to or read the Gaines' story, and be sure to check out Magnolia Table, Homebody, Capital Gaines, & get in line for Joanna's new children's book, We Are the Gardeners.

A must read for anyone who is a fan of Fixer Upper! I learned a lot of interesting things that I didn't know before about their lives and how they came to be where they are today. At times it tugged at my heart strings (the story of the first time Chip told Joanna he loved her and her reaction), and other times I laughed so hard I cried (Joanna giving up jogging for a year after Drake was born because of Chip's forgetfulness, anyone?). This novel was also full of sage wisdom and helpful advice that really applied to my life as a wife, mom and budding entrepreneur. I will definitely be reading any future publications by these two wonderful authors!
The ubiquitous stars of HGTV, Chip and Joanna Gaines (with the help of co-author Mark Dagostino), take readers on the journey behind their personal and business achievements in THE MAGNOLIA STORY. The couple’s “authenticity” which helped popularize their tv show successfully translates for the most part to the pages of this book. Bottomline: THE MAGNOLIA STORY, while not profound, will appeal to most “Fixer Upper” fans (including me), but if you’re not a fan or don’t watch the show, skip it.
Engaging, surprising, layered & a little emotional, this book is quintessential to a couple that has been through it & endured with poise--it's odd to think how entertaining a "sticktuitivy" [in the coined word of Walt Disney] story like this can be, & I have to recommend the downloadable audiobook, where you can not only hear the authors' realness, but you get audioclips from them on set as well! With their humble quirkiness & deep mutual support, they make you fall in love with them & their story--and if you haven't checked out "Magnolia Table," The Magnolia Table gives it context & will also make sense of "Homebody." The cookbook especially is DEFINITELY worth the borrow (and I'd buy it too. See the link at the bottom of the GCPL website to purchase through Amazon, Better World Books, or Barnes & Nobles.)
A heartfelt she said-he said love story.
Have you already eaten your breakfast?
Too fluffy and too much Jesus for my liking. Cute couple and story but it didn’t feel like much more than an extended puff piece sadly.
How wonderful to read this really cute couple's story. I am happy that they admit openly that God is seeing them through their journey (and I'm far from being a bible thumper). All the best to Jo and Chip Gaines.
This book showed me a glimpse of the real couple behind the popular "Fixer Upper" show. My friend told me that this is a good show . We don't watch TV and Im surprised to know that Chip & Joanna also don't watch TV either! it is so refreshing to sense the genuine and honesty of this couple- and people sense that. I do! with their funny, imperfect, touching, heart warming stories and even struggles. As well as their family beliefs and faith system which for me is courageous. Because of this I am more curious and give them more respect- Now I know why they are popular! But I still don't watch TV :)
I really enjoyed this book, it was very honest and I feel like I got to know the Gaines on a more personal level!
