I was expecting a hilarious parody of the Marie Kondo books. This starts out funny, but the constant use of the F-word gets old real fast, and there isn't enough humour to carry the whole book. It's not so much that I'm offended by the constant vulgarity, but more about my amazement that a professional writer doesn't have a wider vocabulary. The book was a disappointment for me - vulgar rather than witty.

I could only give it 4.5 stars because of the gratuitous use of the "F" word, but other than that, it was hilarious and empowering. Just as a side note, I am not against using bad language to express one's self, I did pick up the book after all. I do however, think cursing needs to serve a purpose other than being used as a valley girl uses the word like. Cursing is not as useful unless it is used judiciously to get a point across.

I checked this out because the Customer who returned it said it was hilarious. I laugh often when I see these books; of course cleaning up isn't going to change your life! Which is why I decided to give it a try; plus it's a small book that works well for the transit bound! Enjoyable to a point; I stopped after a couple of chapters because it was repetitive. If you like snark this is the book for you.

Ironically, I found this book after reading The Life Changing Manga of Cleaning
(the graphic novel adaption of The Life Changing Magic of Cleaning).

The first chapter says it all for me, p. 24 - "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign? " by Albert Einstein.

McCarthy's answers are flip and funny. Her answer to a messy closet, just shut the door!

I loved her piece about what would you do with your partner's shoes when they are left abandoned. This was written about my house as was the article about books.

My absolute favourite of all was the Konmari Method that expects you to empty and clean your purse, every night while thanking it for its' service.

This book is a hoot! Many, many laughs for those of us who do not have drawers deep enough to fold their t-shirts using the method suggested in The Art of Tidying Up.

a little crass but it is well worth the read. Funny - laugh out loud funny. It got me to start cleaning out my cupboards and drawers. Enjoy!

Regardless of where you fall on the home organization spectrum, and assuming you can tolerate an abundance of irreverence, McCartney will bring guffaws to you and sideways glances from strangers who happen to be near.

This is a parody of the Japanese art of tidying. It is hilarious and irreverent. I could not stop laughing.
