A quick summer read. What I enjoyed about this book is that first-time author Joy Callaway is that she was inspired by her ancestors and wrote about them in a simple but interesting way. The story is full of surprise twists and sad events.

Suspenseful, somewhat adventure like. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story. Not to complicated. Characters were interesting and very different. The story was sad but respectful at the same time. Enjoyed reading it as a quick summer read. Looking forward in reading more from this author in the future.
