When it comes around to David Bowie making public revelations about his private life - There's one thing that I've always been curios about (and the interviews in this book bring no insights to the reader on this one matter).

Early on in his career Bowie "came-out-of-the-closet" and revealed to one and all that he was, indeed, homosexual.

Yet. Throughout his entire lifetime the only "partners of intimacy" that Bowie had ever let us know about were the women in his life, not the men.

Anyway - I think that this book could've benefited significantly in its reader-appeal if it had also included some Bowie photos to go along with all of the interview text.

"Bowie On Bowie" contains 30 interviews with David Bowie, spanning from the years 1973-2003.

This book presents some of the best interviews that Bowie had granted throughout his lengthy career as a talented musician and a much-admired pop culture icon.

Each interview traces a new progression in Bowie's unique journey as a man who was artistically reborn into yet another musical incarnation with every step of the way.

I only wish that this book had also contained some Bowie photos.

Interview after interview are insightful snapshots of Bowie's life as a musician, actor and artist. I was struck by his comment that the lyrics are never as important as the music itself, that the music speaks to you without any words. "If this wasn't true, how has classical music been around so long? It's because of how it makes you feel!" (paraphrased). He was ahead of his time. Four stars (not five, only because some interviewers are a bit dull, but not Bowie)

This is not a biography that tells us about his life. It is a collection of interviews with Bowie. Arranged chronologically you can read his words and his view of his music throughout the critical years of his musical career. A must read for Bowie fans.
