I too read books about Los Banos. My mother, aunt and grandmother survived. My grandfather and uncle did not. My brothers and I are excited to read this book

I have been reading books about the Los Banos Internment Camp for years. Why?? Because my mother and her brother(my uncle)were held there for most of WWII. This one of the best. I know this book is on hold for other readers and I am interested if these readers have personal connections, as I do, or are historians. The Los Banos/Santo Thomas camps have a population of survivors and their children in this area. Un fortunately , this population of survivors is dying out. I have info re: contacts in the area, and if you are interested in contacting me, leave a message on this book review site. We can talk, if you feel comfortable. Thanks Roger Kelly.

BRAVERY, RESOLVE, IN WW2 PHILIPPINES

It is an interesting story on a number of levels. First, it shows again how War brings out both the humanity and inhumanity in those in the middle of the maelstrom of conflict. Second, it is a book that honors the work of the military, in particular the 11th Air Borne, paratroopers , Army Air Force pilots, and Phillipine Guerrillas. Third it tells the story of the civilan internees and the hardships they faced and the bravery and perserverence they showed. This includes the role of the women of the camp Navy Nurses, mothers, and wives. The book gives a well written account of a heroic coordinated rescue from the individuals that were there. It tells the story of the War in the Phillipines, which has not received the historic attention that is deserved.
