Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a procedure that uses light-sensitive drugs and a laser to help fight non-small-cell lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer death among American men and women. PDT kills tumor cells while sparing surrounding, healthy tissue, and if used before the tumor has become invasive, may even be the only treatment needed. In this program, experts and patients discuss photodynamic therapy-how it works, who it helps, and some of its possible side effects. The video also goes into the OR to show this innovative modality in action.
