Recommended this very worthwhile read to understand MLK the man and the 60s.

Very interesting book. Challenging to read since I do not read "documentaries" but worth reading. To learn the personal of MLK was good for me. I have always admired the man and do even more now. So, peaceful, kind, very stressed out and just wanted all to get along.
To read the last 12 months of his life was amazing, the last few weeks had me sad and the details of the last day , I wanted cry.

This is a great book, completely unexpected given Tavis Smiley's somewhat corporatist leanings [as in when he was at Town Hall on his book tour, he still believes in President Obama, contrary to all his extreme neocon appointments, and Eric Holder, contrary to his legal background - - as in negotiating out-of-court settlements favoring corporations which hired assassins to murder union organizers - - and refusal to pursue the banksters]. Those unfamiliar with the incredible difficulties and social assault on Rev. King during his last year of life should be shocked by this book's revelations. [Smiley does presume overly much from time to time, but the same could be said for his NPR show also.]
