In 1960s Toronto, two girls retreat to their attics to escape the loneliness and isolation of their lives. Polly lives in a house bursting at the seams with people, while Rose is often left alone by her busy parents - both girls seek solace in books and the cosy confines of their respective attics. But soon they discover they aren't alone - they're actually neighbours, sharing a wall. They develop an unlikely friendship, and Polly is ecstatic to learn that Rose can actually see and talk to ghosts. But is there more to Rose than there seems?

"The Swallow A Ghost Story” by Charis Cotter is my all time favourite book about ghosts. It has an unexpecting twist to it which makes the book even more interesting. Everything about this book is very unique. At first sight, you can tell that the cover is what separates it from the other books. When I first saw the book I thought it had to do with a swallow, which is a type of bird. I thought that because it was in the title and the illustration on the front cover. Little did I know it had to do something way more interesting. Since this is a ghost story I would recommend people who are 10 years and older to read this. If you are interested in reading ghost stories I definitely think you won't regret reading this. I rate this book a 5/5 @TheBookieReadingMonster of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

A well written & charming story of two girls in 1960s Toronto. Two very different girls, Rose & Polly, are newly neighbours. They bond over their common loneliness and interest in the paranormal. Add a conveniently placed graveyard across the street, and the adventure begins!

One haunted house, two girls. One secret hideaway, two creepy attics. Many ghosts. = a story for those with interests in the paranormal.
