A delightful introduction to backyard birds including the calls they make. Read the book and then head outside to hear the birds.

Add a CommentI'm lucky that my daughter is really into learning about birds; we both loved this book, and I was surprised at how many she could recognize and how many calls I knew! The illustrations are beautiful, the story is simple enough for young children, yet contains good information for older children. Perfect to read right before adventuring outside!
Another gorgeous Kenard Pak illustrated book with simple yet informative words by Rita Gray.
It's not easy to find a picture book with bird calls, intertwined in the story we learn about the how the Robin nests and does she make a sound while nesting? Loved this book as a story and for learning about birds in general. A beautiful pairing with Emily Dickinson's poem "The Robin is the One" to bring in spring.
Rhyming text and realistic birdsong representation make this a great springtime selection.
Lovely read-aloud nonfiction describing common North American birds and their songs. It is a simple enough story for preschoolers, but the genuine birdcalls included add more detail for older students. Share this along with a field guide and actual sound recordings before your next nature walk to observe birds!
A beautiful picture book - let the birdwatching begin!
