Wow, acting at it's best. Moving, disturbing and touching, this movie really delivers. Very powerful performances by both actors and both deserving of Oscars.

Other: Cocaine, heroin, and other drug use are shown; alcohol is consumed and cigarettes smoked.
Violence: A fistfight between two men lasts for three punches in quick succession. A man's damaged leg in an accident with heavy machinery is also covered in blood. Both of these scenes are very brief and violence is not a concern in this film.
Frightening or Intense Scenes: There are a few angry outbursts and suffering is consistent throughout the film. The subject matter itself (as well as McConaughey's transformation for the role) may cause viewers to feel uncomfortable.
Sexual Content: Sex is shown, but not graphic and never seen directly. However, male buttocks are shown briefly, as well as several glimpses of female breasts and buttocks.
