This film is not a microcosm reflecting on Quebec as a whole and, despite a badly stereotypic Asian underworld, I didn't see anything racist. It could have taken place anywhere you might imagine a black market where those with power take advantage of decent people who are desperate and/or too trusting.
The interesting thing here is that it clearly identifies the 3 main characters Smoky, Fumetti and Vincent as choices in the eponymous game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. That implies a similar triangular cycle, in which each choice trumps the next in one direction or is defeated in the other. This analogy is a bit tenuous (perhaps Muffin represents stalemate), but Fumetti's actions do save Vincent, who in turn saves Smoky instead of doing the opposite. Why wasn't Vincent's name smoke-related too? Perhaps simply because the letter V looks simultaneously like scissor blades and a pivot point.

This is a racist film that promotes the murder of Indigenous people of Canada, and it comes from Quebec with it's long history of attacks on Indigenous peoples. I will never understand why Ottawa Public Library bought this film or why it was made to begin with. Times have changed and the people of Quebec Films should too!
