This movie was not at all what I expected it to be. I was very pleasently surprised. A very moving story that touches on a not so popular topic: mental illness and finding a way to live with it, positively.

Bradley Cooper did a super job with this part and the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence was amazing. I truly enjoyed this movie. Fun & entertaining in a crazy kind of way.

Good acting, especially Jennifer Lawrence. I think she got the Academy award for best actress for this film.

I read the book and watched the movie. Very different, but both were enjoyable. Almost turned me in to an Eagles fan... Almost!

This movie really has me on the fence. Yes, it does do something rarely seen in mainstream movies, which is take characters that are heavily flawed and work with them through their demons, through their crazy times, and through some of their coping mechanisms and struggles. IT's also honest in its portrayal of how other's fear them. But, it was also really cheesy. Like this whole danse competition premise, how they are rank amateurs yet score well enough to meet the terms of the bet, and how after obsessing after his wife for years, he falls for his disfunctional partner. That felt like an entire copout that is endemic in Hollywood, to choose love and the happy ending, instead of the honest, unresolved place where they would be in real life.

I think this is a decent movie but not necessarily a fulsome story. Bradley Cooper's character is obtuse and doesn't see his own obnoxiousness, but is 'tamed' by fellow unique individual, Jennifer Lawrence's character. Their bonding is pleasant but seems to skip a few steps to move forward to the logical conclusion. The family dynamic in Bradley Cooper's character story is charming, understated, and thoughtful. But the film takes advantage of bipolar disorder as a plot device without resolving this storyline.

I don't usually watch or enjoy rom/coms, but this one was recommended to me as having a nice edge to it. The film belongs to Bradley Cooper and he gives a truly fine, touching performance as a man who has lost everything but is determined to find his silver lining. The only thing I found a bit off is the age difference between Cooper and Lawrence, but that's a minor point. A very enjoyable film.

Very good quirky movie. It all comes together in the end.
