In Agatha Christie's Dumb Witness, Hercule Poirot investigates the very suspicious death of an elderly spinster who, fearing the very worst, had written to the great detective prior to her demise.

Everyone blamed Emily Arundell's accident on a rubber ball left on the stairs by her frisky terrier. But the more she thought about her fall, the more convinced she became that one of her relatives was trying to kill her....

On April 17th she wrote her suspicions in a letter to Hercule Poirot. Mysteriously, he didn't receive the letter until June 28th...by which time Emily was already dead....

Dumb Witness is one of the numerous sensational works of Agatha Christie. This star of this thrilling mystery is none other than the great Hercule Poirot. The story hooks you in from the moment that Poirot receives a letter from a dead woman, until the very end, with Poirot’s dramatic reveal. I sincerely enjoyed this book from every twist to every fresh piece of evidence. I have read, many of Christie’s stories, and this is by far one of my favorites. I would recommend this book to any fan of mysteries, specifically murder mysteries. On a scale through five, I would rate this book a four. Catherine, grade 9, of the Yorba Linda Teen Book

This book was a bit long, but it got quite intense near the end and the killer's identity blew my mind! It's not one of my favorite Agatha Christie novels, but I was VERY impressed by it.

"Dumb Witness" is a fairly decent Agatha Christie novel with several humorous scenes. The plot is interesting, though the identity of the killer lacks the impact of other novels. The moments between Hastings and Bob are funny and it's a shame that Hastings wouldn't appear again until the final Poirot book, since he was such a great narrator. Overall,"Dumb Witness" is a good book, but definitely one of Christie's lesser novels.

I loved it, especially chapter 18! Very well constructed, difficult to figure who committed the crime. Highly recommend it.
