Charlaine Harris really likes to beat the tar out of her female protagonists.

A different series by Charlaine Harris. This is the 3rd book ... interesting story lines; hope she has more planned.

Enjoyed previous Harper C. books but this one has "To much information" do we really need to know that Tolliver's penis has an upward curve to it or how many times they have made love in a 24 hour period, etc. NO!!
This is a murder mystery let's keep it that way. Unfortunately this is what happens when a publisher expects an author to churn out books when they say so. The author either resorts to titilation or more verbiage than is necessary to get to the plot. Don't think I will be reading any more in this series.

Such an entertaining read. Charlaine Harris has the gift of writing for readers rather than writing at them or, worse, writing for critics. That's not to say that this is a facile book. Not at all. Her writing is just so natural and aimed foremost at entertaining; one is never removed from the story because of overly flowery writing or overstylized plot devices.

Harper Connelly is one of my favourite characters of all-time and her relationship with Tolliver is lovely.

This is the third book in the Harper Connelly Mystery series.
This book is by far the best so far. The mystery is troubling and the writing is awesome. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the murderer to be caught. There are more than a few frightening and terrifyingly disturbing moments in this book.

It was a well written edge of your seat read (I did not find this one boring) and one I'm more comfortable with now that some of my questions have been answered from the first book. I'm looking forward to book 4.
I also hope this isn’t the last that we see of Manfred, their Psychic friend.

She's better known for the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I actually prefer her Harper Connelly mysteries ... well-written and unique.

This is the third book in the Harper Connelly Mystery series.

For the past several years six boys around the same age have gone missing in the small town of Doraville. The previous Sheriff refused to investigate their disappearances, claiming they were probably runaways or suicides. The new sheriff, who was deputy under the old sheriff, has always thought something was wrong.
Twyla is the grandmother of one of the missing boys and is willing to try anything at this point. She convinces the sheriff and the other townspeople to hire and give Harper a chance. It isn't long before Harpers talent is once agan put to the use and dead accurate, and this is such a horrific crime. It's Haper's toughest case so far.
Harper and Tolliver want nothing more than to leave town just as soon as the check for their services is cut. Unfortunately, the Sheriff and the State Bureau of Investigation aren't going to allow that--and an attack on Harper puts her in the hosital which makes leaving town out. An ice storm is closing in and a serial killer is on the loose. He's got a particular interest in Harper since she was the one who found his toture chamber/bural ground for the boys.
