The triumph of imagination over threat. A well known child's book by Julia Donaldson brought to full life. Beautifully animated, filling out the whimsy behind the words. Favourite actors lending their voice talents. Rene Aubry's music captures the tone of the story perfectly. Wit, texture and warmth, well worthy of the prestigious award attention given it. I give this film an 8 (clever) out of 10. [Animated Short]

A delightful movie for all ages! Three days later and I still can't stop laughing on recalling the mouse bouncing in the air every few steps while walking ahead of the gruffalo.

Wonderful and original! My kids, age three and five, also loved it.

A mother squirrel entertains her two children with the tale of a hungry little mouse on a quest for acorns who must use his wits to avoid being eaten by a trio of equally hungry predators. But the clever rodent’s cunning tactics backfire on him when he comes face to face with a nightmare of his own making. Adorable computer animation and rhyming dialogue create a storybook world of sunlit forests and dandelion fluff while a low-key musical score of strings and piano make this perfect bedtime viewing. Not bad for a 30-minute television special.

A very pleasant surprise. Every movie I've seen from this company has been odd and third rate. This movie is lovely! Vivid animation and the story is played out with whimsy. Worth watching again and again to pick out the charming details.

This is a great kids short. Only like 1 hour long. Checked it out for my nephew. We both liked it.

Excellent adaptation of the children's book. We loved the framing story of the mother squirrel and her little ones asking for a story ("about a monster!" "mmm...about a mouse?").
