"Hampered by humidity and hurt, mosquitoes and miles, but armed with hiking shoes and humour, adventure journalist Steve Hainsworth wanders along Canada's oldest and longest footpath -- The Bruce Trail. Beginning at Niagara Falls and ending at the trail's Northern Terminus in Tobermory, Hainsworth uncovers a surprisingly wild adventure through Southern Ontario's heartland. Niagara Escarpment ridgelines, lonely laneways, busting cities, dense forests and thousands of white blazes span the 885 kilometres of trail between the two trailheads."--Back cover.

In the last chapter Steve goes on about how no publisher would publish his book so he had to self-publish. It is easy to see why. Very basic writing is bad enough but when a hiker does not even know/think to bring DEET for the mosquitos and black fly for the hike or carry a filter for water, you do not get the feeling he knows what he is doing. He also gets terrified at meeting two coyotes on the trail. Through the book Steve claims to be a hiking writer, but the only works mentioned on the back page are a couple of articles in hiking magazines. On the other hand there are some nice pictures of parts of the trail I had not seen which makes me want to do the trail even more.
