In the past decade, depression rates have skyrocketed, and one in four Americans suffer from major depression at some point in their lives. Where have we gone wrong? Dr. Stephen Ilardi sheds light on our current predicament and reminds us that our bodies were never designed for the sleep-deprived, poorly nourished, frenzied pace of twenty-first century life. Inspired by the extraordinary resilience of aboriginal groups like the Kaluli of Papua New Guinea, Dr. Ilardi prescribes an easy-to-follow, clinically proven program that harks back to what our bodies were originally made for and what they continue to need with these six components:
Brain Food Don't Think, Do Antidepressant Exercise Let There Be Light Get Connected Habits of Healthy Sleep The Depression Cure 's holistic approach has been met with great success rates, helping even those who have failed to respond to traditional medications. For anyone looking to supplement their treatment, The Depression Cure offers hope and a practical path to wellness for anyone.

I recently listened to a Calm.com masterclass with Dr. Ilardi based on the principles in his book, and it was so great! I've already implemented some of the things he's suggested like increasing my daily EPA's from Omega 3's and I can already see an overall improvement in how I feel. I would highly recommend reading his book or listening to his calm masterclass. I'm really looking forward to reading his book myself, and can see it being super helpful.

In trying to "keep my black dog at bay," I have gone through many books, online articles, and doctors trying to push antidepressants on to me. I avoided the pills, and really tried to make something out of the literature I was reading. But nothing stuck. Until I randomly ran across this book on the library shelf...and I'm so glad that I did. An easy to read book that really makes sense and is full of relatable material. I literally took notes on it. Also makes me question whether the direction the high-tech world is moving towards is a healthy direction. 6 stars out of 5!

Probably the best book out there on a truly effective yet obvious way to beat depression. Beats antidepressants by leagues and is looking at the TRUE roots of depression.
