One question.... WHY was this not up for an Academy Award? Best script, best actor; a contender for both categories.
I have heard of the woman, I believe, but not the movie. What a shock when an imaginative and intriguing tale unfolded before my eyes. Temple is a young woman on the Autism spectrum and has the typical struggles one would expect. What sets distinguishes this film, apart from the fact that it is a true story and it is based on the real Temples accounts of her life, is what she is able to do not by 'over-coming' her Autism, but 'because' of her autism.

As Temple is a woman, there are also gender biases that she must over-come in addition to her autism. The real Temple Grandin is working as a University Professor and has had a successful career in agriculture. She has written several books. You can see her in the special features, worth pursuing.

Good movie with some upsetting imagery and scenes

I had to watch Temple Grandin in Religion class. I expected this movie to be some boring documentary film that I wouldn’t understand and to be honest, I totally expected to fall asleep during the movie. After all, when you’re watching a boring movie in a pitch-dark room at nine in the morning, it's only to be expected that you take nap. But the moment I was introduced to Temple Grandin, I was engrossed and captivated. I’ve seen a lot of autistic people at school, but I never really interacted with them. This movie helped develop a bit of sympathy and compassion for people struggling with autism. At the end, I even found myself tearing up a bit. To say the least: this movie made me enjoy coming to Religion class.

Wonderful story - SO well done. Kudos to everyone in the movie - Especially Claire Danes, Julia Ormond and Catherine O'Hara - David Strathairn totally outdid himself. Don't miss this movie.

An engaging story about the indomitable Temple Grandin.

Fabulous movie! Anybody with adult sensibilities will enjoy this film. It is a true story about a very interesting real person, with no car chases, explosions, gun fire, or CGI special effects fighting each other.

Why Claire Danes didn't get an Oscar for best actress for her performance here is a mystery. Actually, the portrayal of all the main, and a lot of the minor, characters was very convincing. Amazing, true story, and a great movie for the whole family.

Don't miss out on this one. Temple's life is fascinating, her work important, and the movie is certainly well worth a watch!

Hopeful and inspiring.
