Melina Markowitz is a Messenger, a go-between for paranormal forces and supernatural creatures that move unseen among 'normal' human beings. Problem is, when a girl's an intermediary, it's hard not to get caught in the middle...

If Melinda doesn't deliver, the stakes are life and death. So when ninjas steal an envelope from her, she must find it at all costs. Her search leads her to a Taoist temple in Old Sacramento, where the priests seem to practice Zen and the art of mayhem.

Melina learns that the envelope contained talismans created by the Taoist priests to control the kiang shi, Chinese vampires unearthed from tombs beneath the temple, who are attacking rival gang members in an attempt to spark a street war.

He may look more like a surfer than a cop, but Ted Goodnight is dead serious about investigating the surge in gang violence between the Nortenos and the Black Dragons. At every turn he runs into a very attractive-and very mysterious-young woman.

Can Melina enlist Ted's help to battle something he doesn't even believe in without blowing her cover?

Don't lure the bad guy because WE say it's NOT allowed.

I loved the whole multi-cultural take on things that go bump in the night! It's not the typical Anglo-Saxon paranormal, though vamps and weres are there, too! Great plot and story line, characters were good, situation facing them a great mix of mythical and normal.

Melina is, once again, facing SNAFU. As a Messenger, the communication method of choice between the Others, she's gotta keep on her toes, because while Messengers aren't supposed to be harmed, they're a reason why people say "don't kill the messenger". But when the situation starts to impact those closest to her, Melina realizes she's gotta stop being "just the Messenger" and start getting involved before more people get hurt.
