What a dreadful book. It made me check out Tuttle Publishing, because I thought it must be a vanity press (it isn't) and that the authors had then perhaps donated a copy to libraries (apparently not, the library spent money on this thing). The illustrations are amateurish at best, and borderline offensive. In the text, there are ridiculous oversimplifications and generalizations about the characteristic behaviour of "the Chinese people". The kindest thing I can say about the book is that I guess the authors meant well. If you are actually looking for helpful information about social customs, etc., I suggest you check out a proper travel guide.

An honest appraisal of China without any bias toward or against it. I hope that the information will prove helpful on my trip to China. The illustrations are not of a high artistic quality but they do convey a lot of information, as well.
