A solid companion to Chris Hedges' _American Fascist_. Harper is gone from the PMO, but there are still Canadian who seek to continue along his path. So this is a needed prophylactic read-through.
The Canadian Manifesto : How the American Neoconservatives Stole my Country
This is the eye opening book and must to read to save Canadian Democracy !!! This year's Election result will decide Canada's Future. If you care about your future whether you are young or old, please read this book. This will answer almost all your questions. It is still not too late to save us.
Ought to be required reading for every Canadian voter. Know who and what for.
Amazing book! Should be required reading for every voter! I had to go out & buy it after borrowing it from the library because I knew I was going to want to have it for reference material many times in the future.
Was impressed enough by the book to go hear the author speak in the heart of BC's Bible Belt.
After listening to the abuse and ridicule SOME of the audience gave her, and the grace and humilty the author responded with, I'd recommend this book to anyone who worries that the US experience of right wing religion hijacking politics is coming to Canada .
It's already here!
We are being led down the path of entrenching religion into the fabric of our government, by stealth! And it is a rather radical Right-Winged view of religion at that, that certainly has raised my concerns.
I recommend it as essential reading for anyone concerned about Canada's future, and especially prior to voting.
Marci McDonald's book on S. Harper and his roots in Christian fundamentalism should be required reading in schools. It is Harper's roots in Christian fundamentalism that explains his approach to both domestic and foreign policy. As Marci explains, the separation between church and state is under attack in Canada under Harper as it was under Bush in the USA. Excellent book along with 'Harperland' makes sense out of seemingly disparate policies.
Describes at last why Liberals and their advertising agency, the CBC, hate (and fear—though needlessly so) the Conservatives.
Heather Mallick: "Prime Minister Stephen Harper has managed to conceal from the Canadian public his Christian fundamentalist roots. Thanks for not mentioning it, obedient Ottawa bureaus! McDonald has done beautiful work here. If Harper wins his majority, a lot of insufficiently religious Canadians will be facing End Times. After all, as breezily violent Harper mentor Tom Flanagan puts it, he knows where we live."
