Overwhelmed and alone, Jasvinder was 15 when she ran away from home to escape a forced marriage to a much older man she'd never met. She had to move constantly, ever wary of being tracked down for betraying her family's honour. Her three years in hiding ended with the news that her sister Robina had committed suicide by setting herself alight.

I picked up Jasvinder's 3rd book first called Shame Travels...on reading the cover I realized there were 2 earlier books ( this one and Daughters of Shame) and I to read in order.
Shame of the family is more important than the children - I am so happy that Jasvinder listened to her inner voice that told her there was more to life than forced marriage, abuse etc. She suffered much, as did her sisters. Because her sister killed herself to escape abuse, Jasvinder started Karma Nirvana to help Asians escape that vicious cycle and bring awareness to this hidden criminality.
