A fascinating double biography of two great American artists who kept running into each other (usually on purpose) and whose styles are more similar than it would appear on the surface. The writing is not always easy to follow, and there could be more reproductions of the art (this is an art book, after all!) but some of the unfamiliar works are ones I haven't seen in other books.

Not in the same league as the Ratcliffe book. Was surprised at occasional silliness
