An excellent summary. If you've read Michael Coe's "Breaking the Maya Code," this follows that canonical hsitory of the field very closely, but written and illustrated for kids.

It's not shy about bloodletting and war, so it might not be good for little ones. Plus it's pretty complicated. But to me it feels like it's written to a fairly young audience in other ways, so the age range for this one is fairly narrow.
