Catchy title! BEWARE this is very heavy reading and full of bamboozling jargon. He has very persuasive reasoning. Once through it, you get to just another fad cookbook devised by somebody else. He says himself that he lost weight when he changed his eating habits eliminating junk food and his life style. Guess what, anybody would. He makes a few good points eg that Europeans tend to be slimmer that Americans. If you look at the rest of the world many countries are( excluding those who are starving to death) because they do not partake in the glutinous eating habits of the western world. He advocates stopping Antacids. If you lose weight you want need them. Excess belly fat in particular increases abdominal pressure on the stomach therefore creating reflux, lose weight and problem solved, unless there is an underlying medical problem. He advocates supplements and has his own Brand! He owns a clinic. You don't need supplements if you are eating a healthy balanced diet of seasonal foods and everything in moderation! His diet is EXPENSIVE and time consuming to follow and if you don't live in the city, foods he recommends can be difficult to source . It is already proven that LECTIN can be reduced or eliminated from food by cooking practices of boiling, fermentation , sprouting, peeling, deseeding, pressure cooking. Everyone has jumped on the gluten free diet bandwagon which unless you are medically diagnosed Coeliac or medically diagnosed intolerant to a particular grain then gluten free is just another fad. Gluten free products on the supermarket shelf are expensive and very often loaded with sugar and salt to make them palatable. Simply change your eating habits ! Start by cutting out those mugs of cafe lattes and the gluten free snacks and the like ... all those reward foods. Make the time for regular exercise. Get out of the chair, move! You will lose weight. It's not rocket science.. we have been on this planet a long time and somehow managed to survive without money making fad diets. The western world will die from gluttony first .
However if this book motivates you to change habits, lose weight then that's a good thing. But remember this diet is restrictive and restrictive diets will create their own problems. Oh and he advocates eating seasonal foods...start the kick start diet out of season...go figure!

as health practitioner, the info. on lectin is very true IF one eats gallons of beans, etc. without soaking them and cooking them (preferably pressure cooking) properly, otherwise his diet is placebo.

This book has been a life-changer for me, many friends, and family members. Besides losing a lot of weight, becomming pain free, and having more energy than I've had in 20 years, the menu of foods to choose from is fantastic! I don't want for anything and am off the cycle of emotional eating--a first in my life! Also, my mom was diagnosed with RA 3 years ago and has healed from following this diet. I can't speak highly enough about what this knowledge has done for me and my loved ones. Like anything, the benefits are in proportion to what you put into it.

Excellent information. Not an easy read, but very worth it. The people who gave it a low rating probably gave up reading it and didn't put the information into practice.

I am blessed with good health and now in my 70'ies I want to do everything possible to keep it. First on my bucket list is stay away from doctors as a first resort. They are just going to give you a pill which you may not need. First give your body a chance to right itself.

Pay attention to common sense principles of good health, drink water, exercise, restful sleep, eat fruit and vegies particularly as we are so blessed with so many possibilities here in the Okanagan. All things in moderation.

This book insists that one says "no" to all fruits and berries except Avocado. Eat wild caught fresh fish, like Alaskan salmon or shrimp, crab, lobster. Say no to peas, and beans and sprouts, cucumbers, melon, tomatoes, brown rice, oats. He claims there is science to back this up, well not enough to convince me or my banker 'cause buying fresh lobster would require a bank loan I think.
I started out thinking that he was offering something new but I'm left wondering if he's just trying to cash in on the wish that people have to live longer healthier lives.

Lastly it is a small thing, but I am irked by his constant use of the words "me" and "my".... "his wife" and "his" daughters not our daughters. There is a big ego here and I'not too inclined to trust my future good health to it. I take a multi-vitamin, calcium for my bones, glucosamine for my joints and every once in a while an aspirin. I can shovel the snow from a 60 foot driveway in 20 minutes or mow my lawns without breaking a sweat. What's the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it."

This is a fantastic book! The authors blog gives you more of a flavour what he has to say. It is updated regularly with valuable new blog posts and pod casts.

Discoveries only he has made!? Oh, and he sells supplements too . . .
I think this guy is probably a quack - I hope so because is approach is so restrictive, how could anyone follow it?
