The acting in The Fall Season 3 continues to be worth watching but the plot fragmented into pointlessness in the middle. The series would have been better served if the producer had made the decision to make one final two hour program. The major problem for the writers is that the pivotal character, due to hospitalization and confinement, has limited interaction to the main characters developed in the previous series. Consequently, we get a lot of secondary character screen time about secondary issues. In particular, a bizarre scene of a doctor asking Stella Gibson a series of unrelated questions stands out as one of oddest. The final scenes of the series was also a narrative problem as the self-aware detective does not speak to the main issues raised in the series or the finale and her role in it.

I thought the first series was a solid 4 stars, the second one more a 3, but this one is about 1 and 1/2. Not only is it slow (seemingly hours of emergency and then operating room procedures in the first two episodes) but often pointless: why did we need to see Stella Gibson's assistant going into her hotel room to collect fresh clothing and, well, just collect said clothing? Plus we are supposed to believe that the police and hospital staff are so useless that they keep killer Spector and his kidnap victim Rose in close proximity in the hospital, and the only police presence (bearing in mind they have a psycho serial killer and an important witness in said hospital) is one officer hanging about in a corridor. Plus what's with the pretty medic who appears to be Spector's personal nurse, who never sleeps it seems, and who falls under his sicko pretty-boy spell. And are real police officers usually as sultry, expensively well-dressed and impeccably coiffured as Gillian Anderson's Stella Gibson? The whole thing's over-egged and over-stuffed. Jeez!!!!

I enjoyed Series 1 and 2 of The Fall but Series 3 is very boring. I wasted my time by watching the first two episodes waiting for something to happen and finally I gave up.
