Two years after revolutionizing the science fiction film with his epic Metropolis, director Fritz Long revisited the genre with an ambitious spectacle that dramatizes the first lunar expedition. Rather than a flight of pure fantasy, Lang, screenwriter Thea von Harbou and a group of technical consultants conceived a modernized "Trip to the Moon" grounded in state-of-the-art astrophysics. Spiced with romance and espionage (including a network of diabolical super-spies straight out of Lang's Mabuse films), Woman in the Moon (Frau im Mond) was one of the most influential science fiction films of its era.

Absolutely stunning. I love sci-fi, but the Germans took it to a whole notther level!!!! To think this was made almost a hundred years ago! The Germans are awesome.

Created in 1929 with 1923 science that basically started the space race. This film was banned by the socialist party as giving away war secrets. Way more entertaining then the U.S. version of visiting the moon. This film tells a lot about the people of the times. Times when money and greed is frowned on, a far cry from today's famous people. A time when gold was king and there was no bitcoin. It is a shame that the library puts it as 2013 as people would have an unreal expectations of how this film would look. It is longer and slower moving than today's films which may turn some people off. The visual is very impressive for the time. If you liked his other film, "Metropolis" than you will enjoy this one also.
