This was one of the most complex and compelling "reads" (a Book-on-CD) I have ever experienced. The narrator is excellent- Robert Bathurst.

Louise Penny has an extraordinary ability to create characters that are noble, believable, and courageous. She herself has courageously confronted the issue of policing and the war on drugs. This book is a necessary read for all families experiencing the horror of drug abuse and addiction, for its ultimate clarity of insight. The truth that the drug cartels are run by those who care absolutely nothing for their victims, alive or dead, needs to be realized. The fact that addictions can happen to anyone, that they are in fact a dis-ease process and that addiction CAN be overcome, is the hopeful message underneath the other horrors of this book.

I thank Louise Penny for her courage, her creative use of the image of the hooded figure and the fiction she created around "it", her humanity and the hope that good WILL prevail. Not to mention her excellence in writing and conveying humanity at its best and perhaps its worst. This took great courage and great energy on her part, at a time when she herself tells us (in the after interview) was perhaps the most painful of her whole life.

BRAVO Ms. Penny and long may your creativity continue!
