An entire country watched as a poised, beautiful African-American woman sat before a Senate committee of 14 white men and with a clear, unwavering voice recounted the repeated acts of sexual harassment she had endured while working with U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. Anita Hill's graphic testamony was a turning point for gender equality in the U.S. and ignited a political firestorm about sexual harrasment and power in the workplace that resonates still today. Against a backdrop of sex, politics, and race, Anita: Speaking Truth to Power reveals the story of a woman who has empowered millions to stand up for equality and justice..
In 1991 the US Senate confirmed Clarence Thomas to the bench of the Supreme Court. His confirmation was not without controversy, he was accused of sexual harassment. Anita Hill became embroiled in the process and courageously shared her truth publically. This sparked an uprising of women sharing their sexual harassment stories. In the election after these events more women ran and were elected than ever before. How appropriate to remember Anita Hill as we face the discourse over Amy Coney Barrett’s appointment to the Supreme Court and the outcome of the 2020 election. In this 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage our voices will be heard at the polls thanks to work of many advocates including Anita Hill.
I DID NOT KNOW UNTIL NOW THAT ANITA DID NOT COME FORWARD UNTIL THE SENATE ASKED HER YEARS LATER ABOUT HER EMPLOYMENT WITH CLARENCE THOMAS. I WATCHED MOST OF THE HEARINGS, I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS A PLOT WITH DEMOCRATS AND ANITA TO DERAIL THE THOMAS NOMINATION. TOO BAD IT TOOK SO LONG FOR AVERAGE FOLKS TO KNOW THE TRUTH.
Curious how everyone involved with that goes on to better positions: Clarence Thomas as a SCOTUS justice, Joe Biden as a VP, and Anita Hill as an academic at an Ivy League university. Good times for all, with a most devious political strategy of presenting Thomas as the victim, with the help of Ms. Hill, a republicon. [FBI director, and formerly on the board of the National Chamber Litigation Center, or Neocon Ground Zero, James Comey, also claimed to want to speak truth to power as his motivation for joining the world's largest hedge fund. Seems these conservatives love to use that phrase when it profits them the most?]
Should be required viewing for young adults today. Anita Hill's bravery in the face of the committee's attempt to put her on trial (rather than the supreme court judge nominee) is a lesson for all.

Sadly, this documentary is all too relevant in 2019. There's also a book of the same name. I believe Anita Hill.
What start's out as a good documentary becomes a anti male feminist propaganda film something Oprah would love.
