A BBC Radio full-cast dramatization starring June Whitfield as Miss Marple. Recuperating from a flying accident, Jerry Burton needs to take a break somewhere peaceful. He and his sister rent a house in the little village of Lymstock, where they know no-one and hope to be able to relax. Their quiet life is shattered, however, by the arrival of an obscene anonymous letter accusing them of impropriety. Jerry refuses to take it seriously and throws it on the fire. But he soon discovers that other village residents have been similarly harassed. Suspicion is rife, and matters are brought to a head by the suicide of one of the letters' recipients. Can Miss Marple's arrival in Lymstock cast light on events? And can she discover the culprit before more deaths occur?

I liked that the detective didn't actually appear until nearly the end of the book. It made a nice change. This book had almost nothing wrong with it. The mystery was very well plotted, the characters were great, and the solution was satisfactory. A great mystery, not too long, if you're looking for one. Definitely recommend!

Keep in mind that Miss Marple only appears at the very end of this book--and solves the mystery. Yet, this is an excellent story, and I love the characters. Another big hit from the Queen of Mystery!

I don't normally read mystery but I enjoyed reading this book. Good book for an introduction to mystery.

Told from a disabled airman's perspective. Marple doesn't show up until the very end.

Jolly good read.
Something nice about Agather Christie, nothing too violent and yet all is not revealed till the last pages.
