Added Jun 05, 2020: Sequel to the 2017 Camino Island. The story once again centers around Bruce Cable, the bohemian bookstore owner, and his inner circle of friends/writers. Like Grisham's other novels, it opens very big with a Cat. 4…

Although not one of John Grisham's best books, it was a good read. The middle of the book was a bit draggy, but the beginning and end were great.

I thought this book had an excellent beginning. An author is murdered on Camino Island during a hurricane. Then we go down a stupid rabbit hole of conspiracy theories. Very disappointing as John Grisham book. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Pleasant, low-key yarn that doesn't rise to the level of suspense or thriller.

While parts of this book were somewhat ridiculous and other parts were disjointed, overall I felt it was a clever production. All along I felt this book took about a week to write.

Not quite up to snuff with other Grishams that I've read. The dialog is OK, but the thread line seemed to get lost somewhat. The premise is very believable and may have already happened. A little tame.

I think Grisham phoned this one in.

I do not really agree with the readers who rated this book as "horrible"... It may be not one of his best and a little slow, but when you stick though it it is still an OK story. As far as I am concerned it is still better that some of…

2/2 of story nothing happens other than description of hurricane, humidity and then the aftermath of hurricane it drones on and on. Nelson a best selling author is murdered ....who done it and why....not exciting

Horrible book! I can't believe that John Grisham wrote this. Was he ill or is he completely burned out? The shallow characters, slow plot and mundane, repetitive dialogue were enough to make me put the book down. I wasn't willing to waste…

Its as though this is two different books. The first part describing the hurricane is good, detailed. Then in the middle he describes a sniper killing and the book switches almost to outline form. To make sense of the murder during the…

This is a follow up to Camino Island which I enjoyed. This one left me disappointed.

My first Grisham and it was worth finally reading one of his.

Imagine being in a hurricane, with objects flying all over the place, and destruction everywhere. Now imagine you are a writer in the hurricane and your filing cabinet with all your plots and ideas of plots, disparate characters and…

Boring...Boring...Boring Never thought I'd say that about a Grisham book. After finishing reading, it was difficult to remember the ending much less the rambling plot. Actually made me wonder if anyone edited this book.

This was one of the worst books I have ever forced myself to finish.

BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A total waste of time. Only made it through about a third of the way through hoping it would improve. Gave up as it got even more boring.

So predictable and formulaic. Nothing great about it.

This is not up to par for Grisham. The descriptions of the hurricane were great, but the characters and plot are flat. Overall, this book lacks tension. I liked Camino Island, but this one is a dud. Didn't finish.

Not typical Grisham but I enjoyed it. The possibilities it mentions are chilling and something we cannot afford.

Not very good. There's no clear plot. He's all over the place. You wait for a climax, but there isn't one. There are lots of references to his previous novel with this same main character - as though pimping that book. A hurricane,…

I prefer Grisham's legal thrillers better than these murder mystery type stories that he has been doing, but it's still Grisham and it was still pretty good.
