Whoa... where does one start with this little review? Let's say first that I had no intention of seeing this Remake of the 1976 film that is a classic in it's own right. But because the late Whitney Houston plays a part in the film, I reconsidered, and will be journeying to cineplex to see it when it comes out August 17th, 2012. Okay, enough with the plugging, right? The soundtrack is not the best soundtrack ever recorded, I won't even go there, but it has the heart and soul of perseverance that follows The William's Sisters to the highs and very lows of success. What I was most impressed with was the soulful grit to the album, and in that aspect it is a well crafted piece that will propel Jordin Sparks to the fame she is seeking. Her voice has never sounded stronger, and good for her for going there. My heart broke while listening to her feathery light rendition of "One Wing." But in a good way. My heart broke all over again when I heard Whitney's version of "His Eye is on the Sparrow..." Whew... her voice, as I think we all knew, was not even close to being where it used to be, and yet the drive was still there. But this soundtrack isn't, and shouldn't be looked at for the posthumous reasons that it will inevitably be looked upon as (I did it), Instead it should give breath to the fancy's of all the dreamers out there, and drive home the fact that one should never give up on their dreams of success.
