great historical fiction, hard to put down at times. there is so much WWII fiction out there that sometimes reading about WWII feels tired, but follett focuses on smaller lesser known events at times that help make the novel seem fresh.

I loved this book. A great way to read about the 2nd world war. I missed both the first and second wars in my education and thanks to these two books I now have a grounding.

Really good follow up to FALL OF GIANTS. Lots a characters and lots of details makes this book a challenging read but it is well worth it. I learned so many details about World War II that I never knew before.

What a fabulous way to put this historical period into perspective. If I had read this in high school, I would have understood the sequence of events so much better, and maybe even have enjoyed history in general so much more. The character development has a lot of depth, and the issues faced by all characters are entirely believable. I can hardly wait for the next book in the trilogy.

Sorry I thought it was an ego ok please cancel request

I just finished ‘Winter of the World’, and I have to say it has been an awesome experience. I have cried, laughed and felt helpless and overwhelmed with the joys and awful moments of all characters. I loved the book and can’t wait for the next part....

Excellent from historical fiction perspective ... but the interweaving of characters is too much liek a Danielle Steele novel

As historical fiction, it's hard to beat Follett. Interweaving the fictional characters with real figures of history makes for exceptional reading. However, this is definitely adult reading material. Follett's descriptions and language are not for the kids.

Ken Follett does it again. Continuing the stories of the familes we met in Fall of Giants set amongst the horrors of WWII. Great to have the stories told fom all sides, as we know, history is written by the victors!
