There are lots of great ideas here, but Freston's approach seemed a bit extreme to me. I am sure her suggestions would lead to rapid weight loss, but it doesn't seem very realistic. I'm all for veganism, but going vegan AND getting rid of all the fun foods in your house seems rather spartan to me (seriously, a teaspoon of sugar/maple syrup etc. in your tea is about 20 calories - it's not going to make you fat!). Maybe some people are truly addicted to fat and sugar, and those people might want to take her seriously. But if you are already at a healthy weight, please take her suggestions with a grain of salt (or a spoonful of sugar and some vegan margarine).

What a great way to get prepared for a Lent without meat! If it can be done on Fridays and Ember Days, why not all of Lent for better fasting and better health!

It is a simple plan, using basic steps. It will be easy if you are prepared to embrace the changes. Think of them as challenges. I love the fact that a lot of research is cited.

Great ideas that are easy to follow. I'm halfway through the book and I already feel healthier!
