Add a CommentI really liked this book. Not sure why, it's not my typical who dunit, or crime book and it even has love in it (which is so not my type of book) but I thought it was all done really well and I found myself anxious to read the book any opportunity I had. Great story, with a different plot.
Can't recommend it more highly. An extremely well written book with stories within stories. But it flows so well and the premise, a kid with exceptional lock picking skills, is intriguing and well keep you engrossed in this book until the very end.
I liked everything about this book - the format, style, story, characters and prose.
The Lock Artist is a well written novel which is centred around the life of a mute teenager who take to as life of crime to help escape from his horrific past. Michael, the protagonist of the book, has not spoken a word since a traumatic experience ten years earlier. Even though he has trouble making friends, Mike soon discovers a way to meet someone new. Using his amazing drawing skills, Michael befriends a girl who should actually hate him; for Mike had broken into her house. And that's Mike's other talent: picking locks. It doesn't matter whether it is a simple lock on a door, or a complex safe, he can always get in. The Lock Artist brings readers into the life of a teenager on the run, trying to survive, while trying to make friends. This book is suitable for people 14 and older.
Very unsatisfying book. It is strange, unbelievable and just sad. I don't understand why others liked it. I would not bother to read it. I kept waiting for it to get good but it never did. At least, skip to the last couple of pages and save yourself the frustration.
best book ever.
What a wonderfully told tale. Literally could not put this one down. It pulls you in from that very first paragraph.
This compelling thriller was such good fun. I hope the author has another novel in the works.
Satisfying, absorbing, gripping, firing on all cylinders. Non-pat characterizations, a pleasant surprise in a genre I don't normally dabble in. I will seek out more by this author. Highly recommended.
HIGHLY recommend this book. This is absorbing, original story that pulls you right in & you can't put it down until you find out how it ends.
