Add a CommentI really liked the book, it drew me in. Not sure I'd want to see the movie though, the rape scene or scenes would be very hard to watch. The acting is supposed to be amazing though.
It is very "Oprah" movie (just as the book is). The method is called "shock and shlock" - shock the reader/viewer in the first 1/2 hour, get the emotions high, and then show "good people" from the Oprah reality.
they said the movie is not as hard cord as the book.. i hate to read the book Push!!!-- because this movie was very hard to watch .... this moive should had been x-rated... i realy hated the part when her dad rape her and they show it!!! no children under age 21 should watch this....but it is a very good moive but traumatizing!!
I was 11 years old when I first viewed this movie such an amazing movie my family watched it with me one time and I've watched it countless times I can't get enough of it
While the story was captivating, touching, and full of drama, this is not something that I could watch again. I have a strong stomach, but Precious was extremely unnerving to me. I have to wonder how this movie did in DVD sales because I can't imagine one day just saying, "Hmm. I feel like watching Precious!" The one thing that really made it so extremely horrifying for me is the fact that it rings with truth and elements of true stories all over the world and even in our society. I would recommend Precious to others, mainly for the message.
may your dream comes true
This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. “Not too bad---good performance”. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”
Not my kind of movie at all. Still, I couldn't help but be reeled in by the superb acting and horrific (in an engrossing way) story of this drama. Really messed up. I thought it was a true story, which made it more interesting until I figured out that it wasn't. Still, a wild ride. So wrong.
A very intense movie. I felt that the plot line and overall roughness of the filming made the story Precious was telling more real, more from her perspective. It was really interesting at the end of the film when you begin to understand the psychology of both the victim and the bystander in cases of sexual abuse.
I thought this movie was very disturbing to watch. To see how she was raped by her father and abused by her mother. Monique played her part in this movie so well that it was almost realistic. To me it was inspiring because despite everything Precious had been through she wanted her education and she went and got it. Whether you have been raped or not don't give up on your education because a minds a beautiful thing to waste.
