A very quirky book, with funny characters and a very satisfying ending!

Ever wonder what your twelve favorite Olympians are up to? Marie Phillips answers they are living in London and not large. O how far the mighty have fallen. God of the Sun, Prophecy, and Medicine, Apollo is now a T.V. psychic. The wise Athena, is just as wise but completely incomprehensibl e to everyone else. The mighty Artemis; goddess of the Hunt, Chastity and the Moon is now a dog walker. Some things, however, never change the Greek gods and goddesses still love their mischief. Watch as their antics spill into the lives of the unassuming mortals around them. If you are easily offended you might want to miss this mischievously entertaining waltz through mythology sprung to life.

I loved this book because it was an interesting take on the Ancient greek Gods and how they attempt to adapt and survive in modern day London.

What would happen if gods had their powers essentially stripped from them? They would have to get regular jobs of course! Gods don't have a lot of life skills however, and losing their power doesn't cause them to lose their arrogance. With this premise at its heart this fun book delves into the trials and tribulations of mostly powerless Greek gods trying to make it in the modern world, and the problems of the mortals that have to deal with them. A good read.

I read this book on the plane to Mexico and it was just as good as the description made it out to be. I love reading about greek gods and myths and the idea of having them act normally in the real world is hilarious. I thought the ending was a little predictable but the story was so funny, I didn't even care. A great vacation read; highly recommended.

I would def recommend this book, it's not entirely what it seems. What an interesting take on the Greek gods of old if they were actually alive and well within our world. Ever wonder what jobs they would have?? Phillips does a great job at answering that and many other wonders. Def enjoyable!

I think anybody that has an interest in mythology, particularly Greek mythology, would enjoy this novel. A word of caution: to enjoy this book, you cannot take it seriously, otherwise you might find it frivolous or even blasphemous. The book asks the question: What if the Greek gods were real, and if so, what happened to them? What would they be doing now, in the modern world? The characters are interesting and fun, and I especially liked the character of Eros (god of love) who, by converting to Christianity, has created some rather interesting inner-conflicts. There's some good humor, adventure and just a little bit of romance in this tale.

interesting story line, reminds me a bit of the Percival Jackson series - (kids fiction) with the Greek Gods story line. One thing I had a pretty hard time getting over is the incest amongst some of the characters....ughhh. Otherwise an entertaining light read.
