Summaries
Add a SummarySisters Sabrina and Daphne Grimm are sent to live with their grandmother in Ferryport Landing in New York, the grandmother which they formerly believed dead, approximately a year and a half after the disappearance of their parents. They are soon met with a surprising discovery - they find out that fairy tale creatures, better known as "Everafters", exist, after said "dead" grandmother is kidnapped along with her friend Mr Canis by a giant. Sabrina and Daphne, with the help of a shape-shifting fairy named Puck, a Mirror, and a short guy called Jack who speaks really, really weirdly, have to find and save their grandmother, and solve the mystery of What is Going On Here?

Add a Commenta good book, but not as good as its others, but a very good start of the series
Two sisters, Daphne, 7, and Sabrina Grimm, 11, find themselves in a series of awful foster homes after their parents (and only living relatives) inexplicably disappear. The real story starts when the girls are dropped off with a new foster mom who turns out to be their grandmother Grimm, an Everafter who lives in an isolated and strange little town in upstate New York filled with mythic and fairy tale characters. Snow White is a school teacher, Prince Charming the Mayor, The 3 Pigs are Police. The sister's Grimm must get used to their new life while solving a crime involving a destroyed farm house and a huge foot print, while saving their Grandmother from a kidnapping Giant. Part mystery, part fractured fairy tale, part adventure the story is delightful, but long and windy-- take note because not all 4 to 6 graders will be ready for a thick twisty plot and 300 pages. But for those that are the book is a clever and funny and satisfying first in series.
As of Dec 12, stopped on page 105.
I know right
love how the incorperate fairy tales into this ausome story!!!
This book was awesome! Everyone should read it.
This is the first book in a hugely fun fantasy series. These books have it all: fantasy, humour, adventure, action, and intrepid heroines. Favourite fairytale characters are brought to life in a whole new way in this amazing and delightful series.
Love this series, finished in 6 days! I read the first two books in an hour and 45 minutes or less..... :/
An excellent start to the series. Admittedly I the parts I liked the most were between Sabrina and Puck. This is the second time I've read this and I just find it funny, their hate/hate relationship in the first book compared to their hate/sort-of-hate yeah in the others. Although I wish this could've been slightly more descriptive and that they could've described the sisters' feelings just a little more, this was a refreshing, rare read, as well as original. I liked how the author combined real life with humour, action, and the Grimms' fairy tales. I recommend this to anyone who loves that kind of thing.
Excellent story-telling - sisters are portrayed quite realistically - mystery is engaging
